All Praise to Allah for given us this wonderful chance to meet. I also would like to offer my best wishes for those practicing Islamic rites in this holy month of Ramadhan, May God be pleased to us.

On behave of Government of West Sulawesi Province allowed me to offer my biggest gratitude and appreciation to the committee of West Sulawesi International Promotion Digital Meeting for conducting this meeting in the midst of this extreme time of Pandemic.

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Like most parts of the world, for the last two months West Sulawesi also experience the spread of Covid19. We, the people and the government of West Sulawesi have given our best efforts in fighting this Virus spread, the safety of our people is our main concern. In doing so, we have taken steps such as ordering physical distancing, working from home and limit gatherings or meetings which vulnerable in excelling the spread of the virus.

My respected guests,

In this extraordinary time, one of the worst hit sectors is Tourism, tourism businesses are closed, employees were laid-off, and economic creative industries loosing their incomes.   

Nevertheless, in our struggle against this Pandemic, we see the light at the end of the tunnel,Tourism in West Sulawesi will raise post the pandemic, we have all the reasons to be one of the main Tourism Destinations in Indonesia, from the remarkable mountain to magnificent coastal lines, from the people and their foods, from the unique culture to their nature of friendliness. Sulawesi Barat is the leading tourism destination in the near future. We will welcome you with open arms and hearts. 

Last but not least, thank you for your attention, may God give us strength passing this situation and continue all the efforts in developing Tourism in West Sulawesi.

Adapun Materi yang disampaikan terkait dengan penyelenggaraan Calender Of Event Sulawesi Barat tahun 2021 dalam bahasa inggris sebagai berikut :

1. RAMADHON FESTIVAL – Mamuju Regency, April 2021

One of the unique and stand out Tourism events in West Sulawesi is the Ramadhon Festival, it is a celebration for the holy month of Ramadhon as well as the tool in promoting Halal Tourism in the regent. The event includes Islamic cultured based program such as: Marawis Contest, a traditional music group glorifying the Prophet in a mix of Middle east and Local rhythm,   Speech Contest, Kalinda’da/ a Mandarese poetry Contest, Islamic Expo, Culinary show, Free Break Fasting and community  sport.

2. GANDANG DEWATA FESTIVAL – Mamasa Regency, May 2021

Gandang Dewata Festival is an event to promote the beautiful nature of Gandang Dewata Mountain as a one of the Indonesian National Parks. The mountain. Gandang Dewatais presented in a natural and cultural concept. Some of the programs in the festival are: Camping, Tracking, Art Performance, Nature conference, Destination Photography Contest, Agro-Handicraft Tourism Expo, Gandang Dewata Documentary Show.

3. KOTA TUA FESTIVAL – Majene Regency, June 2021

The Kota Tua Festival is a event in promoting the heritages of Mandar, Islam and the Dutch Colony in Majene. Some of the programs in the festival are: OnthelCycling (a classical Dutch Bicycle), Classic Photos exhibition, Art Performance, Seminar of the Dutch Colony, Old colony Building and other tourist attraction visit.

4. SUNGAI MANDAR FESTIVAL – Polewali Mandar Regency, July 2021

Sungai Mandar Festival held on the main river of Tinambung, a former capital of Balanipa Kingdom. A unique festival along the riverbanks with floating bamboo stage. Visitors will experience the nature and the unique culture of the natives along the river. This festival also considered as one of the ways to conserve the nature of life around the river. Some of the programs are: Art Performance, Art exhibitionand Bazaar, River school, camping, Culinary contest,Cycling, Tracking, community sport and other activities.

5. SANDEQ RACE FESTIVAL – Mamuju Regency – Majene Regency – Polewali Mandar, 8-15 August 2021

The aim of this event is to conserve marine and coastal culture of the Mandarese. The participants of the race are seamen from across the province, especially from Polman and Majene. The they the traditional boat called Sandeq, also known as the fastest traditional boat (without engine) on the globe.The race itself well known as the fastest, the hardest, and longest race in the country.

The theme for this race is “Your Ocean, My Life”. The race consists of one marathon race crossing 3 regency, and one short/one day race named triangle racein every stage. In addition to the race, spectators wil be entertained by: art and cultural performance, traditional games, Enjoy Sandeq trips, and other activities.

6. SULBAR MARASA FESTIVAL – Mamuju Regency, September 2021

SULBAR MARASA FESTIVAL  is an event consist of various programs in celebrating the anniversary Sulawesi Barat Province in September. The Festival is packed in a natural and cultural theme. Some of the programs are: Art Performance, Exhibition, culinary contest, Cycling, Tracking, community sports and other entertainments.

7. MAMUJU FOOD CARNIVAL – Mamuju Regency, June 2021

Mamuju Food Carnival is an event by the regency of Mamuju as part of the ways to promote local foods. The carnival consists of culinary contest, expo and art performance.

8. MANAKARRA FAIR – Mamuju Regency, July 2021

Manakarra Fair, a unique tourism event host by the regency of Mamuju.One the ways to preserve the culture of Mamuju. Presented as art and cultural performance, Bazaar, and several other activities.

9. PESONA TELUK MANDAR FESTIVAL – Majene Regency, 1-18 August 2021

Pesona Teluk Mandar Festival, an event host by Tourism Bureau of Majene. This event is to celebrate the anniversary of Majene. The event name after Teluk Mandar, Indonesian for Gulf of Mandar where Majene is located. Various activities are hosted in this event such as art performance, art bazaar, culinary contest, one day sandeq race and many other activities.

10. MAULIDAN SALABOSE FESTIVAL, Majene Regency, October 2021

Maulidan Salabose Festival a combination of Local culture and Islamic Culture in celebrating the birth of Prophet Muhammad  (PbuH). The event includes SayyangPattudu fest (Mandarese women riding the dancing horses accompanied with group of local musicians), Quran Recitation Graduation, and many others.

11. SMILING KONDO SAPATA FESTIVAL – Mamasa Regency, 11-14 March 2021

Smiling Kondo Sapata Festival, a unique event hosted by Mamasa Regency. Part of the celebration of Mamasa Anniversary. The festival coversseveral events such as annual art performance, expos, cultural carnival, and folk entertainments.

12. THE MANGNGARO RITUAL – Mamasa Regency, 23-30 August 2021

The Mangngaro Ritual, the sacred ritual of the Mamasans, conducted by Regency of Mamasa, this ritual is an old tradition of digging the deaths from the graves, and change the shrouds. The corps are cleaned and re-buried.

13. KAMPUNG NATAL FESTIVAL – Mamasa Regency, 1 December 2021 – 5 January 2022

Kampung Natal Festival or Christmas Village, celebration of Christmas and new year in Mamasa Regency, a major Christian regency in the Province. This religious celebrationpresents art performance, live music, Camping, and many other activities.

14. KAYUMALOA FESTIVAL – Pasangkayu Regency, October 2021

Kayumaloa Festival, a tourism event hosted by Pasangkayu Regency in the effort to preservethe traditional Cow carts as well as the coastal culture. It is celebrated in the forms of several activities such as: Cow Cart Race, Art Performance, Art Bazaar, and many other activities.

15. BUMI LALLA TASISARA FESTIVAL – Middle Mamuju, 10-14 December 2021

Bumi Lalla Tasisara Festival, an event conducted by Mamuju Tengah Regency to celebrate its anniversary. It is an effort to preserve the local art and culture. Several activities are held as parts of the celebration: Art performance, Carnival, exhibition, art bazaar, and several other activities.
